If you're new to music streaming; by signing up to any of the services I've listed below, you can listen to millions of music tracks over the internet.

In most cases you won't own the music and with some options you won't get to download it. But with music streaming it's available to you at any time of the day or night. 

If you're keen to give music streaming a go, here's a list of the best music streaming deals to be found at this time.

A computer, smart phone or tablet and a steady broadband connection with speeds over 1.5 Mbps.


What To Watch Out For:

Streaming isn't for you if you've got any restrictions on your wifi or mobile data allowance, it will eat it up like crazy.

1. Spotify

Considering the massive competition, hat's off to Spotify; the Swedes are the undisputed kings of streaming and are enjoying their 8th successful year. You can use Spotify for free, but with the free access option you can't download tracks to play offline and there's adverts in between tracks. With Spotify Premium you can listen to any track, even offline, ad free. Get Spotify Premium for 99p for three months after which it goes to it's regular price of £9.99 per month if you don't cancel, or £15 for 5 people. 


2. Amazon Prime Music

Amazon Prime Music (formerly Amazon MP3) is included with Amazon Prime, always ad free and always on demand with 40 million tracks. £9.99 if not an Amazon Prime member, or £14.99 for six people. Get a 30-day free trial with Amazon Music  


3. Apple Music

Download iTunes and you'll be hooked up to a whole cornucopia of musical excellence, including Beats 1, their global radio station, and Siri is awaiting your every command. Try Apple Music free for three months after which it's £9.99 per month or £14.99 for a family of six. And you don't need an iPhone to use it, it's served up to Android users too. Unlike Spotify there's no free option.


4. Deezer

Deezer has a mazzive user base, most likely to do with their Spotify-like free option supported by ads and online listening only. Or pay £9.99 per month for full access. Get Deezer free for 30 days 


5. Qobuz

French-owned Qobuz do things differently by concentrating on sound quality, they don't have a free option and it's £9.99 per month for MP3 quality and £19.99 per month for true CD Quality for the more discerning listeners. Get a Qobuz 15-day free trial 


6. Napster

Ah the nostalgia. Where peer-to-peer music sharing all started. But they came back, legally, with a massive 40 million tracks and two versions; Napster Unlimited for £5 per month available on computer only, or Napster Unlimited Plus Mobile for £9.99 for up to three devices. Get 3 months of Napster Unlimited Plus Mobile for only £1


7. Google Play Music

Google Play Music lets you upload 50000 of your own tracks to their massive servers, and even if you don't subscribe you can access them anytime, anywhere. You can use their ad supported curated playlists for free, or subscribe for £9.99 a month. Get a 30 Day free trial at Google Play Music


8. Groove

Groove, formerly XBox Music is another massive catalogue of music and features. Like Google Play Music, there's a free option of ad-interrupted curated playlists and you can upload your own iTunes and MP3s to their OneDrive and listen from any device. Their paid option is £9.99 per month. Get a 30 Day free trial at Groove
